The annual Lantern Festival in Brinhold glows against the mountainside. Kai watches others celebrate but can’t bring himself to release a lantern — his sister Lira’s lantern, made before she died, still sits unopened.
As the lanterns drift away, one remains glowing in Kai’s garden. When he touches it, it whispers his name. That night, strange lights move over the peaks — stars flickering out.
